With all of these fashion-oriented reality shows and the dictation from the media, it's hard to really distinguish true young talent--and unique talent to say the least; and keeping that in mind, this is why I'm extremely happy to introduce the amazing work of my good friend Shui Chen. I think the sense of simplicity and understated beauty is what I love most about Shui's designs. And at the risk of sounding like a total fangirl, (because Shui I know you're reading this!!) it's safe to say that with her dynamic collections and unique and understanding eye, in time SHUI CHEN NEW YORK will become a household name.
I interviewed Shui on my other blog The Style Line a while back (CLICK to read!) and she explained that,"[The clothes] are designed for modern and confident women who have great sense of self identity and style. They can be feminine with a manly touch."
Our first physical meeting was actually unusual. We both used to volunteer at the Museum of Modern Art and met one day while working and the rest was pretty much history. That's one of the great beauties of the big apple... No matter where you are there there's always that possibility of meeting someone amazing. And the best part about it, is that you never know how much of an impact they may have on your lives.
