DIY: Fashion Panels

Materials: Canvases ($7.00 from Da Vinci Art Supplies), Glue Stick, Scissors, Cut outs from Style.com

What I've come to learn the most about personal style, is that reaches far beyond the means of clothing. Style is defined as "an eclectic interior furnishing style indicative of personal preferences and lifestyle" and lifestyle being the keyword. So, with this in mind, I've become very keen on interior design and home furnishings which are not only there to serve necessary purposes, but which are reflective of my personal taste. In celebration of furnishing yet another new dorm, I decided very early on that I wanted a completely new look. So, without breaking my bank I, asked myself: "What are some ways I can create some cute urban-inspired prints?" Pairing this question with my love of inspirational blogs including How I Met Your Style, The Coveteur and most recently Closet Collage, this DIY project was born--combining fashion and lifestyle... I hope you enjoy!

Step One: Scour the pages of something that inspires you, whether it be magazines, newspapers or in my case Style.com and cut out photos that you want to use on your panel. In this case I was inspired by Closet Collage's use of RTW collections and decided to incorporate S/S 2012 collections including Jill Stuart, Carven, Acne, 3.0 Phillip Lim and many more.

Step Two: Depending on how many panels you plan on making, decide on how many "looks" or photos you want to include on each panel/canvas.

Step Three: Lay each look out in the order you want them on the canvas board. But before gluing them, lay them out in a way where you can fit all of the looks you want, without them ending up too cluttered.

And viola! A finished panel--easy as 1,2,3!

Keep in mind that you can mix up the order, the colors and the looks! You can make one panel have all looks that are one color, you can make them scattered, you can make some cut-outs bigger then others... the possibilities are endless! It's just something you have to experiment with and do yourself!
