A memory at The Standard

Aww the meatpacking district - easily one of my favorite areas here in the city and more recently a part of my backyard (well if you count being fifteen blocks away as still a part of your backyard). It's truly one of few spots left in this hustle bustle town where you still get a sense of old New York with it's cobblestone streets, charming architecture and of course an entrance to The High Line which is a historical landmark in itself. Additionally, the area has a very present fashion scene hosting coveted designer showrooms including DVF and drool-worthy boutiques like Alexander McQueen. Oh and let's not forget one of the most sought-after "Oh yeah of course I've been there..." kind of places - MILK Studios. A few short blocks away from MILK and the rest of this greatness is The Standard Hotel, where you see casually sitting (okay okay maybe slightly posing?) in the photos above.

It's easily another favorite landmark in the area and I can't help but laugh every time I think of my first encounter. It was this past season of New York Fashion Week showings and after I nearly fell in Lincoln Center, I rushed into the hotel and ended up being stuck in the elevator with Bryant and a few other fashion personelle. Definitely a time to groove to the jazzy elevator music and resort to awkward small talk. Good times. Ok, quick note on the outfit before I just continue down an endless path to memory lane, I shot this quite a while ago and deemed it appropriate for posting now in hopes that sporting this pastel and feminine palette will help remind New York and the Sun to get along again. It is summer after all. Let pretty colors, good weather and good times roll.
